Hey Everyone!

In today’s vlog I will be sharing a cool new thing I started doing; coloring.  No, I am not talking about coloring my hair, although I do do that.  I am talking about coloring in a coloring book, but not for children, for adults.  I bought this cool new adult coloring book to reduce stress, and so far I love it.  Let me show you why:

Find Your Happily Coloring Book

Recently, I purchase a cool new adult coloring book.  There are plenty on the market, however the one I purchased is called “Happiness Colour Yourself Calm Mandala,” by Paul Heussenstamm.  Of course I find it fitting that the coloring book I chose has a happiness theme.  Anyway, this is one of the greatest inventions for adults to relax.  I mean I literally found myself coloring today for nearly an hour and I mean I was totally invested.

In the beginning of the book the author goes into details about the patterns and in the book.  There are thirty pages in the book.  Each of which is unique.  The objective is to “color your mind calm,” says Paul Heussenstamm. And, today that is exactly what I did.

Color to Reduce Stress

When I first started to coloring I started out by trying to copy the colored print next to the black and white template I was filling in.  Because the author advises the reader to pay attention to what’s going on inside our mind and body, I found myself drifting into another dimension.  Before long, I found that I had drifted back to my six year old self coloring one of my favorite Christmas coloring books.

When I was a little girl I loved to color.  And, so every year my grandmother would buy me, or should I say Santa (wink), one of those giant coloring books filled with all of the Christmas characters such as: Santa, Rudolph and Frosty.  I would sit on the floor for hours outlining and filling in all of the Christmas colors. I was a really good colorist.

As I continued to drift deeper into my inner child I recalled how calm I felt as a child sitting and coloring in my coloring book for hours.  I was at peace, and I was happy.  I quickly realized that even though I was an adult, that I could still embrace that inner child to bring about calm and happiness into my life.  In essence the coloring book triggered a state without me even knowing that it would.

Reconnect With Your True Self

I think it’s important for each of us to find that thing that makes us feel like our true and authentic self.  Some people get to that space through meditation.  While others use exercises like yoga or Qigong.  However, you choose to reconnect with your true self try to observe the state that you feel when you’re in that space.  In this way, whenever you need you can pull up that state to calm yourself no matter what you’re doing and where you are.

Thanks, so much for allowing me to share.  If you have ever used one of these cool coloring books or you have a cool activity that you like to do to reduce stress, please share your thoughts in the comments section.  Also, check out the video below so you can see one of the cool mandela images I colored.
