If you’re tired of dating apps, you’re going to want to read this post
So many people come to me feeling burnt out and deflated after having no success using dating apps. Often the cause is not fully appreciating how to use dating apps as a tool and the result of the most common mistakes online daters make.
How Dating Apps Work
In order to use dating apps successfully you have to understand how dating apps work. In short, a dating app is an application people can download on their mobile phone or tablet. Users create a profile which include: a photo, bio, age, interest, geographic location and profession. Most people use dating apps to meet someone they like. Other’s use dating apps for casual sex or hookups. However, the term “Dating App” is somewhat inaccurate as you are not dating, but making it known to other people online that you have a desire to date.
Common Mistakes Dating App Users Make
Let’s take a look at some of the most common mistakes dating app users make.
Mistake #1 Choosing the wrong dating app:
Although dating apps help you find love not every dating app was created equally. Therefore, do not choose a dating app based on popularity. Instead, choose one based on your #relationshipgoals as well as your requirements.
Mistake #2 Unwilling to use paid subscriptions:
Dating apps offer free and paid subscriptions. However, with the surge of online dating dangers it is best to use a dating app that offers a paid subscription. Also, keep in mind that the goal of dating apps like Tinder, Hinge or Match is to make money. And, while there is no evidence to support that a paid subscription will help you meet more matches, there is evidence that paid subscriptions might be safer.
Mistake #3 Uploading a bad profile pic:
While you will want to put your best face forward, do not upload a fake pic. Also, uploading a blurry picture or pics that only show you from the chest up, or with your shirt off won’t bring good results. Instead, hire a professional to take one or two professional pics. Then, choose a lifestyle shot and a full body shot. I talk more about the best pics to include in your dating profile in my online dating program.
Mistake #4 Writing a boring profile bio:
While no one expects you to be a novel writer do try to include an interesting bio or profile description. Include things about your interest and what you want. Avoid telling people what you are NOT looking for, or what you DO NOT WANT. Remember, that which you resist persist. Another way said, energy flows where attention goes.
Mistake #5 Unwilling or too afraid to initiate contact:
If you do not initiate contact no one will know you exist. Ladies this is always a hard one for you. Some people go online wishing, hoping and swiping, yet never engaging. This one should be easy if you think of it like this: Your career, your job, your education, where you live and what you wear — all your choice right? Initiating contact with someone you like should be no different.
Mistake #6 Giving up too soon:
While online dating can be time consuming and frustrating, the objective is to not give up too soon. Like I mentioned at the very beginning of this post, a dating app is a dating tool. So, if you are tired of using dating apps or not having any luck, don’t quit; strategize, and use the app along with other forms of dating. However, if you’re swiping day and night hoping to meet the one, and getting burned out, you’re doing it all wrong.
Although dating apps is the modern way to meet someone, it is still entirely possible to meet someone without having to use dating apps. I talk more about organic ways to meet someone for those of you sick of dating apps. I also share the best dating apps to meet someone if you’re serious about getting into a relationship on YouTube.
