Online Dating Red Flags
Due to the Covid-19 quarantine there are more singles opting to try online dating. However, not every person online dating is a candidate to date offline. If you’re trying online dating during the coronavirus, below are 3 red flags to look for before choosing a mate:
Hurt People Hurt People
If you encounter someone who is newly separated, divorced or a new widow/widower that hasn’t healed or dealt with their recent separation – you should avoid dating them.
I do not care if they told you the marriage was “over before it was over” or “how much grieving they did” while the person they lost was still alive. People need to spend some real quality time ALONE after a loss (I get the timeframe for each individual’s readiness varies) not dating.
𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲: Hurt broken people, hurt people.
Whirlwind Romance
If you encounter someone that starts making promises for marriage, commitment, travel plans or meeting the friends and family early on in the relationship — run!!!
This person is known as the world whirlwind relationship guy/gal. They are full of endorphins and the excitement of the newness of it all. However, as you venture down the road with this person you will learn that they will expect you to 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲 your SELF and set aside your boundaries to fulfill their needs.
These individuals are known to fall in love quickly and out of love as quickly as they fell in. In the end they will disappear like Houdini leaving you like a bad habit or they will stay and make your life miserable because they’re only happy when everything is going their way.
Emotionally Unavailable
If you meet someone that comes off as evasive or aloof, avoids difficult conversations that relates to feelings or the relationship, or they go MIA after the first sign of emotional or physical intimacy — Do not stop, do not collect $200!
This is the classic case of an emotionally unavailable individual. They are not bad people, they are just unable or unwilling to emotionally connect. Nothing you do or say will change them, so don’t bother trying.
Should You Give Up?
Trying to find love in the time of the Corona might seem challenging, but it does not have to be. Since so many people are online dating during the coronavirus, this is the best time to look for love. However, in your search, it is imperative that you use discernment. Best of luck in your search, and may you find your happily!
